I've Lost The Ability To Run

I went to the gym with all intentions of getting on the treadmill and doing some brisk walking, increasing the incline then reducing it and going into a jog. That wasn't bad but it felt weird as hell. After six minutes I tried to run and my legs pulled a massive revolt on me. They didn't get weak or buckle, they just stopped. Thankfully I was on one of the treadmills that have a stop key that automatically stops the belt when the key comes out. If it didn't I'd be face down and completely humiliated. I know that this was the first time for running but I never expected it to be so difficult. I'm on the verge of tears because of this. I hope this isn't going to be a regular thing, running isn't a big deal to me but it pisses me off that my good leg is getting pissy and the prosthetic is following suit.

  1. I've been told it will be difficult to run again, and it was recommended when I can try to go to a grassy field if possible and expect face plants. Also it will take time (don't even have a leg yet) until running 'normally' again up to two years. Well it beats never running again.

So I know it will be 'a long and winding road' but the humiliation is not to be feared but slapped in the face as you get up and try again. Yeah, easy for me to say but I have certain rights these days...

Perhaps you can find another amp runner to give you some tips? Maybe your CP can help too.

Please don't ask if you can smear peanut butter on me and lick it off, it's really kinda creepy to even go there. I'm far from normal but I'm cool with it. Type O Negative & Clutch rule my world and I'm always down with hockey fights. You can find me at the gym or hiding behind my laptop stealing free WiFi at some overpriced coffee shop.
